Night Night Sleep Tight…..

Over the past 10 years I have been given heaps of advice and looked for advice. Some advice unwanted and put in the bin and some super helpful.

I hope for those of you that are craving that 8 hours sleep this helps a tiny bit.

Getting the kids to sleep.

I know 100% lavender just knocks my kids out they become so settled and relaxed. I either give them a little foot massage with 2 drops lavender and coconut oil, use it when they go into bed in the diffuser, in the bath or let the steam do its magic in the shower.

Ways Essential Oils Can Help Your Children Sleep

Try a bedtime massage

Just before bed, and maybe right after bath, give your child a nice massage with oil. Mix 1- 2 drops of lavender & roman chamomile with 2 tablespoons carrier oil and. rub all along the arms, legs, back, tummy, feet, ears. The massage itself is relaxing, and the fragrance of the oils will set the tone for a calm and peaceful night.

Diffuse the oils in your child’s bedroom at bedtime
Just breathing and smelling the oils can work wonders for all of us – parents and children alike! You can put a drop of lavender on your child’s mattress, pillow, or lovey. Diffusing essential oils can actually help clean and purify the air in your child’s room, and can also be used to help with respiratory problems.

Use oils at bathtime
Bathtime can become relaxing time! You can put a few drops of lavender or roman chamomile in the bathwater with a liquid soap or with Epsom salt, to help it disperse throughout the water.

Essential oils can help alleviate coughing
Blend peppermint, eucalyptus, or melalueca with a carrier oil, rub on the bottoms of your child’s feet, and then put socks on your child. Finally, rub the diluted oil on your child’s chest. This can work wonders at reducing and eliminating a persistent cough (although once again, if you suspect your child is ill, you’ll want to see a healthcare provider for evaluation – the oils are meant to alleviate the symptoms of illness, not to treat the illness itself). You can also use the diluted oil in a diffuser, so that your child gets the benefit of breathing in the aroma.

How did I get started?
I started with the essentials kit which is lavender, lemon, peppermint, tea tree, oregano, Franc, Ice Blue, Easy Air, Digestzen and on guard ($165.50) and the heavenly diffuser which is ($55.00)

Otherwise a cheaper option would be the diffuser ($55.00) and the intro kit – lavender, lemon and peppermint for ($35.33).

I hope this all helps – let me know if you have any other questions 😘😘

The Difference Between Vaporizers, Humidifiers & Diffusers

A common question asked is “what is the difference between vaporizers, humidifier and diffusers”.  I think the confusing part is they all look alike.  The stand out winner for me is a diffuser, as this is the best for oils.

A Humidifier is a device that is used for keeping the atmosphere moist in a room.  It helps to prevent dryness that can cause irritation in many parts of the body such as treating dry skin, nose, throat and lips.  Most often people use a humidifier to help with cold and flu symptoms by relieving sinus congestion.  Most humidifiers are not built for using essential oils, and over time they can damage plastic components.

A Vaporizer is a device that generates a particular substance in the form of vapour, especially medicinal inhalation.  A vaporizer works by heating water until it turns into hot steam.  You can make your own vaporizer by bringing a pot of water to a boil, add 1-3 drops of essential oil, place a towel over your head and inhale the steam.  Extreme heat can sometimes break down the therapeutic qualities of essential oils.

A Diffuser, especially when it comes to aromatherapy and essential oils, can come in a variety of ways.  The best for any household is an electric powered diffuser works much like a cool air humidifier, except they are specially made for using with essential oils.  Diffusers are designed to disperse a micro-fine vapour into the air allowing them to be suspended into the air for an extended period of time.  It is much safer than burning oils in warmers, and retains the integrity of essential oils.

Diffusers are an extremely easy and effective way of giving an aroma to a room, but there are many more benefits to using them.

  1. Helps reduce bacteria, fungus, mould and unpleasant odours.
  2. Relaxes the mind and body; relieves tension, anxiety and stress.
