In December 2016 we made the last minute decision to spend Christmas in Bali. I have never been a fan of being away from home at Christmas but last year I just wanted to escape.
We left on Christmas Eve and headed off for our tropical escape. The kids woke up on Christmas morning with a Christmas tree and the usual ridiculous amount of presents – it was fabulous. We spent the day by the pool and enjoyed a delicious dinner.
This trip to Bali we decided to go the complete opposite to our previous trip and looked for a quite area. We decided on Uluwatu and stayed at Le Grande Bali. We still feel like we have not found the perfect area in Bali for us the first time being too overwhelming and the second a little to quite.
We did venture out on this trip, as the kids are getting older and we are more comfortable with Cooper’s disease it is becoming easier to take day trips.
We spent a day at Bali Treetop Adventures which is normally totally not my thing but i had a blast, even my 65 year dad was up there on the ropes. We stoped in at Ubud on the way back and walked thru the monkey temple, I was super anxious with the kids as the monkeys can be a little scary.
We absolutely love the Nusa Dua area and made several visits to Bali Collection – Shopping Mall. My favourite restaurant was in Nusa Dua. Pirate bay Bali was so much fun for the kids, cheap and the food was fabulous.
JP loves seafood to a visit to Jimbaran Bay for dinner was a must. The food is great and the sunset is so beautiful. The kids ran up and down the beach which let us sit and take it all in.
On our last day we surprised the kids with a trip to the Elephant Safari and Sanctuary. We set off for a safari under the stars. We had a private tour of the sanctuary, were able to feed and get really close with the elephants. We had an safari night ride and an amazing buffet dinner at the end. Overall it was great for the kids to see these magical animals up close and be able to learn so much about them.
This trip was really relaxing, the kids swam for 10 days straight, I read a whole book but I really would only recommend this hotel for a short break or if you are looking for total isolation and quite time. You require transport to go anywhere and the hotel only features one resturant.
