Satisfying Sweet Cravings

It’s 8:30pm on a week night, kids are in bed, workout is done and all you can think about is, “I could really go a little something sweet”!

It happens all the time and you don’t really want to reach for that chocolate bar or bowl of ice cream or even both. So here is a great little snack, perfect for those mid week night cravings with less sugar than some of the other alternatives.

This recipe is inspired by a recipe I saw by An Apple a Day for Taste Like Snickers Balls.


230g Medjool Dates
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
2 Tablespoons Crunchy Peanut Butter
100g Roasted Cashew Nuts
100g Almond Meal
3 Tablespoons Cacao Powder + extra for rolling in
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup

Makes 15

Deseed your dates and place them in a food processor or blender.
Add the cashews and coconut oil and blitz for a few seconds to break them up.
Add the remaining ingredients and blitz for 30-60seconds, you might need to add a splash of water , you are looking for the consistency of wet sand.

Squeeze together in your hand and roll into golf ball size balls then roll in cacao powder, you can also use desiccated coconut if you don’t like the bitterness of the cacao. Place in an air tight container.

Hot Tip: I like to keep these in the freezer, they last and long as it takes to eat them, defrost really quickly and they are a brilliant cold treat in summer.
